Tietze, Alexander (1864–1927), German surgeon. A qualified surgeon in Breslau from 1894, Tietze became primary physician at the Allerheiligen Hospital in 1896. The author of numerous papers on surgical topics, he is remembered for a notable textbook on emergency surgery that was published in 1927. He published a description of the syndrome that bears his name in 1921.
